Talladega or Bust
Just wanted to say hi before we leave tomorrow for Alabama! I have heard from Lisa, she was ok, but that was before the last hurricane hit. I hope everyone watched the debate tonight!
I will not be posting for a while, we are going to the N ASCAR races this weekend, then to Biolix for some gambling, then to New Orleans!, back to Alabama to see my cousins, then home.
Things seem to be slowing down a bit on the Blogger site, so let's pick things up when I get home( Oct. 11).
Love,
Robin

Robin: (when you get back)
How was it? I watched the first 40 or so laps (through the first round of pits stops) and the last 20 laps. What other tracks have you been to? And, of course, who's your favorite driver?
I've been to Bristol a few times, but not for a Winston or Nextel race - only Busch and Craftsman Truck races. We did see some Winston drivers practice sessions before the Busch races last year. Bristol is awesome - the noise is deafening and you can see the entire track all the time. I've taken my oldest son and he had a blast. (He was 4 & 5 for his two trips.)
I used to watch the races every weekend, but after Dale Earnhardt died I stopped watching for over a year. It just seemed wrong to be a fan of a sport where the stars could be killed. (It doesn't happen in the NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, etc.) Also, I'd been a fan of his since he first started driving the GM Goodwrench car. My Dad worked at the Buick dealership in Gary and he frequently brought home Dale Earnhardt posters/calendars/models etc. (If I still had those items now, I could probably sell them on E-bay, invest the money, and later pay for several years of college for my kids!) I've started watching the races again, but not religiously, and I don't really have a favorite driver. I just like to see a great, close race.
I hope you had a great time. So, how many other members of this blog are NASCAR fans?
-Mike
P.S. Someone once sent me a list of "you know you're a Hoosier if ..." and I posted it in my classroom. One of the items is - "You know about the IRL & CART debate and you've taken a side." Only one or two students have a clue about this.
Mike,
We had an awesome time at the races! This was our first race ever! What a track though, nothing can describe Talladega!(Bristol,Indy,& Daytona ain't no shit!)My driver is #24 JEFF GORDON!!!!!!!!
I also like Jr & Elliot Sadler. We are planning on going to the Michigan race this coming August.
For the men on this site, if you've ever watched Girls Gone Wild, look for me on the Talladega version! I had 50# of beads in 1hr., hate to see what would happen if I ever went to Mardi Gras.
